Hello my friends!
I found this old photo of me recently and pulled it out this morning. It takes me back- remembering those early days…
It was 1989, 37 years ago today. I opened Therapeutic Touch with one small room on Route 35 in Bay Head and was bursting with passion and excitement. After many years traversing the globe - living in Southern California, Colorado, Montana, Florida, backpacking around Europe- I ended up back where I started. It surprised me and maybe my father a little more that I returned to the Jersey Shore and made the first step in putting down roots when signing a lease. It was a big step coming out of the closet as a health & wellness geek and putting myself out there. My father still thought I was “rebelling.”
Back in those days I was fueled by FREEDOM (first and foremost) followed by CURIOSITY & PURPOSE.
It’s almost hard to believe how much things have changed over the past 37 years. I marvel and chuckle recalling those early days….
Back in those days…MASSAGE & WELLNESS were very much considered woo-woo.
Back in those days…anyone into massage, yoga, acupuncture and holistic health were kinda on the fringe-and considered maybe a little weird.
Back in those days…these therapies were considered ‘alternative’
Back in those days…there were two camps. There was ‘Mainstream medicine’ (the majority) and ‘alternative healing’ (the minority)
Back in those days…it was seen as US vs. THEM
Back in those days…it was either/or
Back in those days…all of US alternative healing folks were few and far between but we found each other!
It’s been a long road but things have changed! I thank GOD, my amazing TEAM at TT and all of you open-minded friends, family, clients and colleagues. Wellness & Holistic Health are now mainstream. Massage and these therapies once considered alternative are now called integrative and complimentary healing therapies. Its not a fad or gimmick - it’s tried and true natural healing
Holistic Health always made so much sense to me and it is thrilling to see it embraced and mainstream.
Thankfully, it’s not either-or anymore. It’s both-and. We don’t have to choose sides and can embrace all of it.
VIctor Hugo said it best - “THERE IS NOTHING MORE POWERFUL THAN AN IDEA WHOSE TIME HAS COME!”
On an happy note, eventually my DAD saw what was happening and he came onboard to recognize my unusual calling. He lived long enough to see I had found my niche in helping others and he called me a pioneer before he passed in 1992. He was my biggest challenger in life but in a good way. It’s because he didn’t understand my path that he challenged me. I know that parents want to protect their children and guide them to find their way.

At my core, I’m still fueled by PURPOSE CURIOSITY FREEDOM.
I believe in authenticity and being true to yourself - living life best for you!
Thank you for taking this journey along with me! I am bursting with gratitude and awe reflecting on how lucky and blessed I feel to have landed in this incredible community. I can’t imagine being anywhere better!
