When we think there’s nothing we can do, we can help by just being there and holding space for another.
So we practiced holding space...
Every. Single. Day.
- It takes practice to open our ears and generously listen.
- It takes practice to give our heart and entire presence.
- It takes practice to offer unconditional support.
- It takes practice offering empathy and compassion.
- It takes practice to just BE with another.
- Holding space takes lots of practice....It takes practice to let go of giving advice and trying to fix someone.
My sister Pam recently visited on the spur of the moment from California. We had a lot of family time & holy moments in the five days she was here. It reminded me of a poem I wrote 18 years ago while on a retreat entitled ‘Holy Moments’....
I wonder is it enough to just show up and want to help?
Is it enough to just listen and be with others in their suffering?
It feels like doing nothing and I want to help.
Is it enough to keep our hearts open, to touch with a hug or a hand?
Reminding you to take a breath and feel what’s there?
Is it enough that I’m here to help you make room for life to infold?
It feels like doing nothing and I want to help
When I am present and connected to myself
I am at peace and I feel whole.
When I am present and connected to you
I am at peace and I feel whole.
What’s the difference? These are Holy Moments
Every day at Therapeutic Touch, we welcome holy moments. I know that each of our
heart-centered therapists is not just a technician but truly cares about people, and through TOUCH and holding space helps others HEAL and make this world a better place!
Wishing you healing & holy moments!
