- There are no shortcuts or magic pills.
- What we do each and everyday can add or subtract to our health and happiness.
It's common knowledge that without enough air- we suffocate. Without enough food- we starve. Too much food is today's bigger problem. Without enough water, we die. Too much water and we drown. I would like to add to this list. Without inspiration and without self-care our souls shrivel. We burn out, get cranky, irritable, mean and resentful. We go through the motions but we feel dead inside. We forget our calling. Does this ever happen to you?
It's easy to get so busy that you simply get caught up in the rat race and forget yourself and what matters? Of course, we all need food, water and air to survive. We also need connection, touch and fun to thrive.
"This may seem like common sense but common sense is not so common". -Voltaire
I just had my 81 year old Mom here from Florida and tried to savor her two week visit. Coincidentally while she was here, one of my closest best friend's Mom passed away unexpectedly. This reminded me to savor our time together even more. I overlooked how much sugar she puts in her coffee and let go of telling her to drink more water. The truth is no matter what she eats or drinks, she's a lot of fun. She makes me laugh, love and feel grateful. And at the end of the day, that's what matters.
What matters to you?
