Since February is National Heart Health Month and Valentine's Day, it's a good time to shine the light on what really creates a healthy and happy heart. Besides the obvious list: eating well, exercise, sleep/rest, and managing stress, let's not skip over one of the most important contributors to your health and Well Being.
Relationships and meaningful connection are the #1 predictor for health and happiness for each of us. Face to face, heart to heart, and soul to soul connections are vital for our physical and mental health. Investing in family and friends can add years to our life and life to our years.
Sadly though, you don't have to look too far to notice that we've lost touch with touch in today's uber-busy world. It appears on the surface level that our world is more connected. We keep in touch through email, texting, social media, and modern technology. But... are we really more connected? What about true-old- fashioned real connection?
According to Virginia Satir, a well known author, social worker and pioneer of family therapy: "I believe the greatest gift I can conceive of having from anyone is to be seen by them, heard by them, to be understood and touched by them.
The greatest gift I can give is to see, hear, understand and to touch another person. When this is done I feel contact has been made."
Let's get back in touch with who and what really matters.
- When and where can you disconnect so that you can connect?
- True real time connection?
