What inspired you to pursue a career as a Massage Therapist?
I originally thought about going to go to school for physical therapy and I had a friend who encouraged me to give massage therapy a try. She told me it was a great way to learn the body with a more hands on approach, and would be a great stepping stone. Never truly saw myself doing it but I gave it a shot, interviewed at a few schools and fell in love with this one school and its approach to massage therapy.
Haven’t looked back since!
Very individualistic! It’s not a one size fits all. I love talking with my clients and finding out what they need help with. We discuss where they have discomfort and create a plan together. No client is the same, which makes each day exciting.
What are some of your specialties?
It surprises some clients because of my size ... but I am known for my deep tissue massages. I work with Athletes from recreation to Division 1 whether they need a Sports Massage for maintenance or a Sports Medical Massage for something more serious. Of course, I can be light pressure too. The client lets me know. If you have any issue, the goal is to help you fix it. It’s a team effort.
What is one thing about massage therapy you wish everyone knew?
It’s more than just a luxury; It’s a necessity in a person’s health & wellness journey. You get one body — treat it well.
What are your words to live by?
"Lead with love, compassion and curiosity."
"Take the time to get to know a person’s story. Everyone has one."
What are your favorite leisure activities?
I love spending quality time and taking on new adventures with friends and family.
My self-care routine is movement by way of exercise, yoga/ stretching or a simple walk by the beach. In addition, chiropractic care and most definitely massage! (Practice what you preach!)
