Rest. Recreation. Recovery.
Every single day. Easier said than done. It's so easy and automatic to jam pack the calendar and over schedule ourselves. Can you relate? It's actually a habit that I've been working on changing the last few years. In small ways- allowing, welcoming and saying YES, to the open white spaceson my calendar, has become something I get excited about, and I'm deeply grateful for.
It's opened up a feeling of spaciousness that I never knew how much I was craving or needed. I used to be the opposite- say "yes", too much and feel overwhelmed too often. It's the choice of whether we gulp or sip every moment and I'm moving towards becoming more of a sipper than a gulper. It has taken awareness, commitment and practice... to stop, savor, breathe in, enjoy and experience.
Over the next month I'll be traveling to Florida and California to vacation, visit family, and have fun. It's exciting to put these things on my calendar. I hope that you are able to pick and choose some meaningful and enlivening things to add to your calendar that you will look forward to with anticipation and excitement.
Our spiritual fitness is just as important as our physical fitness. What's tugging on your heart these days? Read on til the end and I hope you get a chuckle and big smile on your face.
If you can start the day without caffeine and pep pills,
If you can be cheerful ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can face the world without lies and deceit,
If you can relax without liquor,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,
If you can say honestly that deep in your heart you have no prejudice against creed, color, religion or politics,
Then You my friend, are probably a Dog!
