I want to share something close to my heart and quite frankly - one of the most beautiful things happening in our country right now. I’ve been following THE WALK FOR PEACE.
Eighteen Buddhist monks along with their loyal dog ALOKA are walking 2,300 miles (3,700 km) from Fort Worth, Texas to Washington DC for one simple goal PEACE. Their intention is quite simply to raise awareness of peace, loving kindness and compassion across America and the world. And they are!
The fact that these monks only do these lengthy and difficult walks when they see that peace, kindness and love are needed makes this even more astounding.
They are traveling 10 states with plans to reach Washington DC in mid February 2026. Sleeping in tents and walking many miles a day, this journey will take 120 days. Today (1/23/26) is day 90. The crowds are growing. As the word has spread, people are lining the streets to witness the peaceful monks pass through their towns and cities. Millions are following along on social media and it’s truly inspiring.
They are making an impact. As Gandhi proclaimed “ There is no path to peace; peace is the path.”
In a world that often feels loud, divided and overwhelming, this walk is a gentle reminder that peace doesn’t begin far away. It begins within us- within each breath, each conversation, each choice, each moment of kindness.
As a massage therapist, I witness this truth everyday. Healing doesn’t come from force. It comes from slowing down. From listening. From allowing the body, mind and heart to soften and remember what safety feels like.
This WALK FOR PEACE is a living meditation. A prayer without words. It’s a quiet invitation to return to ourselves and the steady calm that lives beneath the noise.
As you move through your days, I invite you to join their mission of PEACE and carry this intention with you:
Walk a little slower
Breathe a little deeper
Offer kindness when you can
Choose peace in small, meaningful ways
And when you come into the treatment room, know that this space is always here for you - to rest, re-set, and to reconnect with that inner calm.
