Greetings my friends!
I woke up early this morning bursting with joy. It was one of those mornings that included the perfect trifecta to jumpstart a magnificent day. I don’t know about your morning routine to orchestrate a great day but mine often includes getting outside in nature, listening to music, gratitude/prayer time and coffee.
This is one of my very favorite weeks of the year- It’s the official kickoff of SUMMER here in the northern hemisphere with the SOLSTICE tomorrow as well as today is the 35th anniversary of Therapeutic Touch. It’s a time for reflection and celebration.
It’s hard to fathom 35 years have flown by. Nostalgic, I’m remembering many days and years were smooth sailing and some days and years were grueling. As Forrest Gump said “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”
I certainly had no idea what I was embarking upon in 1989 or where this was headed but I was committed. Looking back, it’s hard to believe I survived all the ups and downs and challenges of three and a half decades. With a couple recessions under my belt, 9/11, the financial crisis of 2008, the devastation of Superstorm Sandy, a worldwide pandemic, a difficult divorce, expansion & contraction which included moving the business 3 times, I am proud to say I’m still standing. I’ve survived & am so grateful for all of it- Therapeutic Touch continues to be the most incredible journey!
One of my favorite scenes from Forrest Gump is watching Forrest as he runs from one end of America to the other gathering followers as his beard grew longer with jackson Brown ‘Running on Empty’ playing in the background. And suddenly without warning, he just stopped, pausing and said “I’m tired. I think I’m done. I’m going home now.”
I’ve borrowed his line many times when I’ve been asked when I plan to retire or stop giving massages. I really don’t know the answer to that question but perhaps one day, in the middle of a a massage -I’ll repeat those words of Forrest BUT don’t count on that anytime soon.

I emphasize CARING because I not only choose people technically good at their craft but are also kind and caring. You can teach technique but you can’t teach people how to care.
